Continued Progress ~ Broken Strings!

Greetings to all! We've had multiple film shoots for this project since the last blog on this site. And most people associated with Broken Strings know it's about keeping it alive and moving it forward in the best way possible.

Last year we did an incredible night shoot with dancers from PackDance mixed in with actors, in the Grand Arts District. Aerial footage was captured in conjunction with other camera work on the ground. It was an incredibly powerful and moving night.

The value of the work is what the filming experience provides as well as the end result. A new grant for filmmakers in St. Louis surfaced while I was in NYC, after our - street dance/dream - shoot occurred. We shifted all our focus when I returned on going after that, but ultimately that particular grant went through channels that we did not seem to fit into.

Regardless, I was fortunate enough to receive a smaller artist support grant which has kept the seeds of this community project alive.

We rehearsed and filmed again in the spring (2025), though the day after another night shoot, the May 16th Tornado hit. It's been tough since then. After many months, we got back up and have continued to film. More on social media to follow. For now, it continues to be an incredible experience to strive for creating work that highlights the powerful artistry we have here.
